The amazing 90-year-old Maggie Taylor works for a local charity Hope House Children’s Hospice, close to Brynmor flapjacks HQ. When she heard we had a mascot called Bryn and was shown his photographs…. she took on the challenge to knit us our very own Bryn twin! With original Bryn in so much demand these days we are so lucky to now have another Bryn to take on even more adventures.
Maggie, born in May 1929 and at the youthful age of 90 is still volunteering in the Wrexham Hope House Charity shop. She has been there over 20 years since the shop first opened and is still working hard; she even manages to use all the modern technology needed at the till point!
Maggie told us. “I loved making Bryn, he’s lovely. I based the knit pattern on Prince Harry when he got married but I did need to change a lot of the pattern – his knees (we will take your word for that one Maggie) and his hair colour had to change of course. My daughter Janice helped out with his hair and his face as these were quite complex, so it was a team effort. I enjoyed doing it and I tried the flapjacks; they were very nice.”
Maggie added, “I can always knit him some new clothes if he gets dirty on his travels…he’s really quite good isn’t it he?”
Well everyone at Brynmor certainly thinks so! A massive thank you to Maggie and Janice from the wonderful Hope House hospice for such a wonderful gift to us all at Brynmor.
